Foundations, also known as footings, are the supporting structure (load bearing) of a building, usually below ground level. They transfer the load of a structure to the ground. Foundation designs differ depending on the load capacity and the type of subsoil supporting to support the foundation, these are considered the primary design concern given they will cover settlement and bearing capacity – this will be a consideration by the geotechnical engineer who conducts the initial ground survey. A Structural Engineer will then design adequate footings based on the details of the ground survey.

The DJS Research construction team have conducted research with in the construction sector that has included different foundation types and materials that are involved in the process of a project. We understand how important Masonry is to the construction of a building and have experience working with masons and other contractors that have involvement with this stage of a build.
